High idle issue on 1991 Guzzi California 1000

A friend's recommissioning a 1991 Guzzi California 1000 and can't get the idle below 3000 rpm after cleaning the carbs and replacing seals. The throttle snaps back fine, and cables are adjusted properly, any ideas on causes or adjustments to solve this?

Has he made sure there's proper free play at closed throttle? Too tight and the slides won't hit the idle screws. Could also be an air leak or just plain worn carbs, they're 30+ years old, probably beat.

You might have a vacuum leak or the idle screw's set too high, just double-check those seals, and make sure the throttle slides are moving smooth, no hang-ups

Thanks for the tips, I'll check the throttle play again and inspect for any potential air leaks, the carbs are indeed old, so I'll look into replacing parts if needed.

Good point! I'll recheck the idle screw and ensure the throttle slides are moving freely, I'll also go over the seals again to rule out any vacuum leaks
